Nobu is Coming to Monte Rei

Nobu has announced a hotel, restaurant, villas and branded residences at Monte Rei. For property buyers, the important distinction is between that future proposition and the established resort homes available now.

What Nobu and Norfin have announced

In its 28 July 2026 announcement, Nobu said the plans formed part of a wider Norfin investment programme across hospitality, residential living and leisure at Monte Rei. Alongside the hotel and Nobu restaurant, the announcement covered 21,000 square metres of Nobu villas and branded residences combined. This was stated as a total area, not a published number of homes. DSA Architects and Rockwell Group are part of the design team.

Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with the hotel anticipated to welcome its first guests in 2029. These are projected timings rather than fixed completion commitments, and a separate delivery date for the villas and branded residences has not been announced.

That original announcement also mentioned a beach club as a possible future addition rather than an opening-phase facility. Full details have not yet been released for residential pricing, availability, ownership structure, service charges, use conditions or any management programme.

Over the longer term, an internationally recognised hospitality brand could broaden Monte Rei's profile and add another dimension to a resort already defined by golf. A hotel, restaurant and new residential component may strengthen the year-round hospitality offer, although the practical effect for owners will depend on what is delivered, when it opens and which facilities are available to each property.

For buyers considering Monte Rei now, the announcement is best treated as positive wider-resort context rather than a promise about property values, rental demand or access to Nobu services. Existing homes should still be judged on their setting, specification, costs and current amenity arrangements.

Golf at Monte Rei

Monte Rei's property story starts with golf. The Jack Nicklaus Signature North Course opened in 2007 and remains central to the resort's identity.

The par-72 course runs to 7,182 yards through mature trees and natural valleys, with the Serra do Caldeirão to the north and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. Its wide fairways accommodate different handicaps, but the changing terrain keeps the holes distinct.

The clubhouse, Pro Shop, PGA Academy, practice facilities and swing studio make this a complete golf setting rather than a residential development with a course nearby. It is the reason many buyers first put Monte Rei on their Algarve shortlist.

Membership, booking and playing arrangements should be checked for the individual property and the owner's intended use. The South Course remains future context while under development; it is not part of today's golf offer.

FAQ

What has Nobu announced at Monte Rei?

In its 28 July 2026 announcement, Nobu said the plans included a Nobu Hotel with 100 rooms and suites, a signature restaurant, guest amenities, and 21,000 square metres of Nobu villas and branded residences combined. DSA Architects and Rockwell Group are part of the design team.

When is Nobu Monte Rei expected to open?

Construction is expected to begin in 2027, and the hotel is anticipated to welcome its first guests in 2029. These are projected timings, not guaranteed completion dates. A separate delivery date for the villas and branded residences has not been announced.

Are the current Monte Rei homes Nobu-branded?

No. The linked villas, Clubhouse Residences and plots currently presented through Golf Homes International are part of Monte Rei's established residential collection. They are separate from the planned Nobu villas and branded residences.

Are the future Nobu residences for sale?

A residential sales launch date, price schedule, availability and full purchase terms have not been released. Buyers need formal residential documents before they can make a meaningful comparison.

Should I assess current Monte Rei property or wait?

Assess the established collection if timing, an identifiable home and the ability to compare current costs matter most. Waiting is the clearer route if a Nobu-branded residence is the main objective. In either case, investigate the exact property, ownership terms, ongoing costs and access arrangements before making a commitment.
