Sotogrande Golf — Sotogrande

Sotogrande is a private residential estate on the western Costa del Sol, in the municipality of San Roque, Cádiz. It was planned from the 1960s around golf, polo and the sea, and it still feels quite different from Marbella: lower density, larger plots and a quieter, more residential rhythm through the year.

Golf is the reason many buyers come. Real Club de Golf Sotogrande and Valderrama are among the best-known courses in Spain, and La Reserva Club, San Roque Club, Almenara and La Hacienda Links add further choice within a short drive. Each club sets its own membership and playing terms, and buying a home nearby does not include club access, so property and golf should always be considered separately.

The estate is made up of distinct areas, each with its own character. La Reserva offers newer villas, golf residences and gated developments around its club. Valderrama and the upper slopes are known for large private villas on generous plots. Reyes y Reinas (Kings and Queens) is an established villa area closer to the coast, while the marina and beach side suit buyers who want apartments and an easy walk to restaurants and the water. Alcaidesa and San Roque Club sit a little further along, with their own golf and coastal settings.

Homes range from apartments and townhouses to substantial villas and plots, and prices sit at the upper end of the Costa del Sol market. Two homes a few minutes apart can differ widely in setting, security arrangements, community charges and their relationship with a course, so the exact location matters as much as the property itself.
